Configuration Profiles & Device Management

iPhone Device & Theft Protection

Recommended

Review installed configuration profiles and device-management settings, and remove anything you do not recognize or no longer need.

What this setting does

Configuration profiles and mobile device management can control important settings on an iPhone and may provide an organization with access to device information, network settings, accounts, certificates, apps, or other managed capabilities. An unknown or unwanted profile can therefore create a significant security concern.

Important notes

If VPN & Device Management does not appear in Settings, Apple says no device-management profiles are installed on the iPhone.

If you find a profile you do not recognize, review what it controls before removing it. Deleting a configuration profile also removes the settings, apps, accounts, certificates, or other data associated with that profile.

If the iPhone belongs to or is managed by an employer, school, or other organization, do not remove legitimate management profiles without first checking with the administrator.
