Fraudulent Website Warning

Phishing & Malicious-Site Protection

Recommended

Keep Fraudulent Website Warning turned on in Safari.

What this setting does

Fraudulent Website Warning helps identify websites that Safari suspects may be deceptive or malicious. This can reduce the risk of entering your Apple Account password, verification information, or other sensitive credentials into a phishing site. Apple’s current Safari guidance recommends keeping the warning enabled.

Important notes

This protection does not guarantee that every phishing site will be detected. A convincing fraudulent site may still use HTTPS and appear technically secure, so the warning should be treated as an additional phishing defense rather than a substitute for checking where you are signing in.

On current iOS versions, Safari settings are located under Settings → Apps → Safari. Fraudulent Website Warning appears in the Privacy & Security section.

Apple Safe Browsing protections in Safari are enabled by default and can block known malicious URL domains associated with web attacks.
