Strong, Unique Apple Account Password

Apple Account Access & Authentication

Essential

Use a strong Apple Account password that you do not reuse for any other account.

What this setting does

Your Apple Account password is the primary credential protecting access to your account. Two-factor authentication adds an important second layer, but a strong, unique password still reduces the risk that credentials stolen or exposed through another service can be used against your Apple Account. Apple specifically recommends using a strong and unique password for the account.

Important notes

Apple currently requires an Apple Account password to contain at least eight characters, including uppercase and lowercase letters and at least one number. Meeting the minimum requirement does not mean the password should be reused elsewhere.

If you believe someone else knows your Apple Account password, change it immediately from a trusted device. On iPhone, go to Settings → [your name] → Sign-In & Security → Change Password.

Clouds & Keys does not need to see, test, or store your password. The review should only ask you to confirm that your Apple Account password is strong and unique.
